The Bouillon Chartier, a 100-year-old restaurant in Paris Grands Boulevards

The story of this historical restaurant in Paris Grands Boulevards started in 1896. Two brothers, Frédéric et Camille Chartier, created their own “bouillon” in a former train station. At the time, a bouillon was a working-class restaurant, where laborer ordered a hot meal for a working man’s price.

The two brothers copied the rich decor of bouillon for their interior. They chose a Belle Epoque decor with a majestic glass roof and a high ceiling. Woodwork, mirrors, pieces of furniture and lamp with a ball shape immerse you into another time. Indeed the decor was classified as a historical monument in 1989!

After 120 years, almost nothing has changed. The atmosphere is still the same, as pleasant and welcoming as it was at the start. It’s time to sit down to dinner/lunch, the waiters are waiting for us to order! Come join us!
