Starry night: the Van Gogh exhibition at Atelier des Lumieres

The Atelier des Lumieres, the rich experience that we introduced to you last year at its opening, has received fantastic reviews! The Van Gogh exhibition immerses you in the artist paintings, drawings, accompanied by a perfectly matched soundtrack. Through diverse light projections covering every imaginable surface, discover the masterpieces of Vincent Van Gogh.

Atelier des Lumieres, an art studio in the East of Paris

The exhibition studio opened in 2018 to introduce itself as the first numeric and artistic center in Paris. Located in an old iron foundry, the innovative Atelier des Lumieres has been transformed into an art and cultural center. The grand hall room welcomes you into a cavernous space of 1500 sqm (16 000 sq ft) canvassing Van Gogh’s vision with intense light and sound projection. The very first show was a retrospective of Gustav Klimt paintings. The result is an immersive and mesmerizing view through the eyes of Van Gogh and the creativity of the exhibition. Opened on February the 22nd, 2019, the Van Gogh exhibition is a tribute to the genius artist.

Van Gogh exhibition: a musical and visual experience

The Van Gogh exhibition, which opened in February of 2019, continues until the end of the year (31/12/2019 to be exact), but don’t wait too long to buy the tickets in advance, because they can sell out quickly. Indeed some specific weekends are fully booked! If you like Van Gogh and want to experience a unique presentation, you’re gonna love the show!

The Van Gogh exhibition takes you to a visual and musical quest, all while discovering the artist’s masterpieces. During the show, a lot his famous paintings are projected on the studio’s walls, the floors, the ceiling- every visual surface. The exhibition evokes Van Gogh artistic production through time and evolution. We have experienced the Van Gogh exhibition and we fully recommend catching this special opportunity!

The exhibition was designed for a new area and has been installed in the center of the hall, in the cistern. Vincent Van Gogh’s most famous paintings surround you and envelope your senses here, with some specific commentaries and names of each museum that posses the original canvas.

Two other short programs to discover at Van Gogh exhibition

While your visit to the Atelier des Lumieres to see the Van Gogh exhibition may be your initial objective, don’t skip the two other short programs that are available for viewing. The Van Gogh exhibition is only 14.5€ and lasts thirty minutes (although we spend time just experiencing it over and over), you’ll be happy to enjoy the two other 15 minutes programs which make this a great value.

The two short shows are “Dreamed Japan” and “Verse”. The first one take you to an immersive travel through Japanese art, meeting geishas, samurais and spirits. This exhibition is really colorful, visual and rousing! With the Verse exhibition, you will travel to a cosmic experience and come out relaxed. The short program was created by the filmmaker Thomas Vanz and reconstitutes a supernova with colossal explosion of colors and a dreamlike music. Not to be missed!
